Lady Captain’s Coffee Morning
What a roaring success the coffee morning was again this year, raising over £1000 for the joint Captain’s Charity, St. John’s Hospice. Special thanks must go to Lady Captain and all the Ladies who helped to organise and run stalls on the day. Of course, a big thank you must also go to everyone who donated items for the stalls and attended on the day; a great joint effort.
Joint Captains Car Boot Sale
Mr Captain and his helpers ran a stall at St John’s Hospice on the 15th April, again in aid of the joint charity. Thank you to everyone who supported this event by making donations or helping on the day. Over £100 was raised, which is fabulous. A second car boot is planned for later in the year so bear this in mind if you are thinking of having a clear out.
Daily Mail Foursomes Update
As most people will be aware Kerry McKay and Heather Pilling qualified to play in the Daily Mail Foursomes knockout this year. The girls did really well getting through to the third round but unfortunately were knocked out by Penwortham at home, but only after 21 holes!! Well done to them both.
Summer Eclectic
The Summer Eclectic gets underway on the 1st May in the first EWGA Medal of the year. Please put your entry fee of £2 in a clearly labelled envelope in the box, if you wish to enter. All qualifying competitions count for the eclectic this year in an effort to tempt more Ladies to enter. Closing date for entries is 31st May.
The Priestly Trophy
The draw for the priestly Trophy has been made and is displayed on the notice board in the Ladies Locker room. Good luck to those of you taking part. To those of you who have not put your names down for this year, please consider it for next year. It is a match play knock out competition played throughout the season and is a good opportunity to play with ladies who you, perhaps, have not played with before.
The Ladies Committee Meeting
The April Committee Meeting took place at 1.00pm on 4th April. The minutes from this meeting will be posted on the board once they have been signed off by Lady Captain at the next meeting on the 9th May. If you have any issues you would like raising at the Ladies Committee please feel free to contact any Ladies Committee Member.
The Spring Meeting
The weather was really kind to all the ladies who took part in the Spring Meeting on 27th March. It is such a lovely way to start off the golfing season; a nine-hole competition where everyone takes a prize and everyone wins one. Most competitors met up in the mixed lounge afterwards for the prize presentation. Heather Pilling was the overall winner.
Lady Captain’s Away Trip to Oulton Hall
32 ladies joined Lady Captain for her away trip to Olton Hall on 15th and 16th April. The weather was kind, the facilities wonderful and everyone had a really great time.
The Ladies Handicap Team
Longridge were the first club to face the Lancaster Ladies at home this season, on Friday 20th April. Lancaster won convincingly, five and half / one and half. Blackpool Park were the next team to visit Lancaster. Again the Lancaster Ladies, won five/two.
The next match is at home once again on, 4th May against Shaw Hill.
Ladies Bronze Team
The Bronze team played away to Ashton and Lea on 23 April. The result was a win for Lancaster 3/2.
They play Blackpool North Shore, again away, on 2nd May.
Well done to all the Ladies playing for the teams and good luck for the rest of the season.
